Alpen Teton Binoculars

By

For a year now, I've been using the Alpen Teton 10x42 on deer, elk, bear, and turkey hunts in Oregon and Idaho, as well as on small game and coyote hunts. The first day in the field, I compared them to a more expensive competing brand in the last 20 minutes of light. Both binoculars were brand new and of the same magnification and size. There was a slight difference, with the edge going to Alpen for detail and color fidelity.

Alpen's Teton series employs a roof prism system, PXA phase coating and SHR metallic coating on BaK4 glass. They are O-ring sealed and nitrogen-filled to protect against moisture and armored to protect against shock.

Tetons come in 8x42, 10x42, 8.5x50 and 10x50 models with a glass system borrowed from Alpen's more expensive Rainier line and a body from the Apex series. Tetons utilize a center focus system. The 10x42 boasts a field-of-view of 341 feet at 1000 yards. With long eye relief (17mm) and twist-lock eyecups, they are a great fit for a hunter with eyeglasses.

The Alpen Teton line has a suggested retail of $858 to $935.
